fuck bill gates......................America's richest man, Bill Gates, is using his billions to effect major social change around the globe. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given away $30 billion since 2000, a fortune that on its own would be one of the 20 largest in America. The foundation is working to eliminate polio in the three countries where it still exists and is committed to stamping oalaria wherever possible. In September the Gates Foundation pledged $50 million to fight Ebola in West Africa; Bill Gates then announced in early November that his foundation would spend $500 million to fight malaria and a host of neglected diseases. In the U.S., the most generous philanthropist in history is working to improve education, in part by paying college fees for talented students through a $1.37 billion grant administered by the United Negro College Fund.
#2 Warren Buffett
At the age of 84 Warren Buffett is still at the top of his game both professionally and philanthropically. The second-richest American's net worth continues to surge, despite his giving away billions, thanks to the juggernaut performance of Berkshire Hathaway. In August the company's coveted Class A stock, which is the most expensive of any public U.S. company, eclipsed $200,000 per share for the first time, lifting Buffett's net worth by billions over the past year. He bested his own giving record in July, giving away Berkshire shares worth $2.8 billion, primarily to the Gates Foundation but also to his children's foundations, bringing his lifetime giving total to more than $20 billion. Berkshire Hathaway is the fifth-most-valuable public company in the U.S., with a market cap of nearly $350 billion.
#3 Carlos Slim Helu & family
If you're making a phone call nearly anywhere in Latin America, chances are good that you're using a network controlled by Mexico's Carlos Slim, the world's second richest man. His America Movil has telecom operations in 18 countries in the Americas -- including prepaid wireless firm TracFone in the U.S. --and 265 million mobile phone customers. In Mexico, America Movil units have a 70% share of the mobile phone market and 80% of the landline market, though a new law in the country forbids companies from controlling more than 50% of telecom and broadcast markets. To comply, Slim has said he will sell some assets. Slim also has his fingers in the retail, industrial and financial sectors in Mexico through controlling interests in industrial conglomerate Grupo Carso and financial firm Grupo Financiero Inbursa. #4 Amancio Ortega
World's richest retailer Ortega added $7 billion to his fortune this past year, expanding the gap between him and number four, Warren Buffett. He is up a total of $26.5 billion in the past two years. Though he stepped down as chairman of Inditex (best known for its Zara brand) in 2011, he still owns nearly 60% of its shares. He also has a growing real estate portfolio, estimated to be worth nearly $5 billion, much of it acquired at bargain prices during the financial downturn. He is reportedly planning to list his property holdings in a real estate investment trust. Among his properties: the iconic Torre Picasso, a 43-story skyscraper in Madrid (Google is a tenant). In the past year, he's bought four new buildings in Madrid, New York and London for around $830 million, taking the number of buildings he owns to 26. A railway worker's son, he started as a gofer in a shirt store. With then-wife Rosalia Mera, now deceased, he started making dressing gowns and lingerie in their living room. They had a daughter Sandra, and a son, Marcos. Ortega is now married to Flora Perez Marcote, with whom he had another daughter, Marta.
